Calling all adventurers and puzzlers! In conjunction with Utah’s annual Clear the Air Challenge and Salt Lake City’s Frequent Service Network, join in on UTA’s first ever official bus scavenger hunt.

Every Monday in July, check our Instagram page (@RideUTA) to receive the first of four clues. Participants will receive a key word at each clue location once they find and scan the QR code. The first five people each week to DM us all three key words and a picture with the final blue bus will receive a UTA merch gift card. Stay vigilant — the clues will get harder each week.

All participants who send us the correct key words throughout the month will be submitted into our grand prize drawing valued at $250, including two VIP tickets to the Salt Lake or Ogden Twilight concert of their choice.

As you’re hunting, be sure to join the Clear the Air Challenge. Show your Clear the Air Challenge registration to your bus operator or train host throughout the month of July for a special UTA sticker of the month.

Contest Rules:

• Contest Duration: The scavenger hunt contest will take place throughout the month of July 2023.
• Eligibility: The contest is open to all individuals* who have an active Instagram account.
• Participation: To participate, contestants must follow the Utah Transit Authority’s Instagram account (@RideUTA).
• Weekly Clues: Each Monday morning during the contest period, @RideUTA will post the first clue on their Instagram account. Contestants must pay close attention to the clue provided because it will lead them to a physical location in Salt Lake City that’s accessible from Salt Lake City’s Frequent Service Network.
• Finding Clues: Contestants must visit the physical location indicated by the clue and locate the subsequent clue or hidden item at that location. They should document their findings by taking a photo or video at the final clue.
• Social Media Requirements: To be eligible, contestants must direct message a picture of the final clue to @RideUTA with all three key words.
• Winners: Each week, the first 5 participants who send us all three key words and a picture of the final blue bus will win the weekly prize. Winners will be notified through the official @RideUTA Instagram account, and they will receive a prize determined by UTA.
• Grand Prize Winner: At the end of the contest, one grand prize winner will be randomly selected from all eligible entries received throughout the month. All contestants who direct message @RideUTA with the three keywords and picture of the final clue are eligible for the grand prize. The grand prize will be announced on the @RideUTA Instagram account, and it will be a special prize determined by UTA.
• Notification of Winners: Winners will be notified via direct message from @RideUTA on Instagram. They will be required to provide their full name, contact information, and any additional details requested by the @RideUTA account to claim their prize. If a winner does not respond within a specified period, an alternate winner may be selected.
• Prizes: Prizes are non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash or any other alternatives. UTA reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value if necessary.
• Release of Instagram: This contest is in no way sponsored, endorsed, or administered by Instagram. By participating, contestants release Instagram from any responsibility or liability related to the contest.
• Personal Data: By participating in the contest, contestants consent to UTA collecting and using their personal data for the purpose of administering the contest and prize fulfillment.
• Compliance: By participating, contestants agree to abide by these contest rules and the decisions made by UTA, which are final and binding in all matters related to the contest.
• Modifications: UTA reserves the right to modify, suspend, or terminate the contest at any time, for any reason, with or without prior notice.
• Legal Limitations: This contest is subject to all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations and is void where prohibited by law.
